About the Role

APNIC is a critical organization in the global Internet ecosystem, responsible for accurately delegating and registering IP addresses throughout the 56 economies in the fastest growing region in the world — the Asia Pacific.  We are a member-based organization and our members can be any organization with a need for significant network infrastructure.

We require a Software Engineer who is positive, motivated and passionate about what they do; someone who has a desire to grow and develop their skills, has a passion for technology, is willing to take on new challenges, and work with other like-minded individuals in a cohesive team environment. 

The successful candidate will be working within a small dynamic team of other talented and seasoned software engineers, defining and developing APNIC’s current and next generation applications and services.

While the successful candidate's role is to work within the software engineering unit, their function spans across the organization and beyond. They will collaborate internally with other APNIC subject matter experts and stakeholders, and externally with their counterparts in other Regional Internet Registries, and members of the international Internet community.

About You

  • Strong time management skills including an ability to set, monitor, and communicate deadlines, and a track record of delivering on commitments and deadlines

  • A quick learner who's not afraid to ask questions
  • A positive attitude with a knack for getting things done

 What you can do

  • At least 3 years of Java development experience
  • Understanding of Web Services e.g. REST and SOAP
  • Database design and implementation skills
  • Unix/Linux
  • Code management techniques (e.g. Git, Mercurial)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet applications, addressing structures and schemes
  • Familiarity with user-interface design and information architecture

Nice to have

  • Perl, C, C++
  • Kubernetes, ActiveMQ, Sensu, Puppet
  • Design patterns, distributed deployment environments, service-oriented architecture
